Irving Brant, c1972 (1885-1976).

Brant was an important figure in the early conservation movement in the United States, including the establishment of Olympic and Kings Canyon National Parks (Brant surveyed and set the boundaries of both parks).  He was a founding member of the Emergency Conservation Committee in 1929 with Rosalie Edge and Willard Van Name. Additionally, Brant was the primary environmental advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his Secretary of the Interior, Harold Ickies.  Brant saved the Bogachiel and Hoh Rain Forest under President Harry S. Truman, and presented Stewart Udall to President-elect John F. Kennedy for Secretary of the Interior.
